Jonathan Harris of Delsea continued his early season exploits in the circle with another massive mark when he unloaded a throw of 65-6 to win the shot put at the Len Pietrewicz Invitational on Monday at the Armory in New York.

The 65-6 by Harris moves him into a tie for No. 8 on NJ's all-time indoor list and is No. 2 in the country this season.

The University of South Carolina-bound Harris, who came into this season with an indoor PR of 60-0.25 and an outdoor PR of 63-2.75, has gone beyond 61 feet in all five of his meets this season and has thrown further each time he's stepped in the ring.

In his first four meets, Harris, who won AAU National Junior Olympic Championship in the shot this past summer, threw 61-1.5 at the Thanksgiving Throwdown (Polar Bear Meet) on Nov. 29, 62-0.50 at the SJTCA Meet No. 2 on Dec. 14, 63-8.50 at the SJTCA Meet No. 4 on Dec. 21, and 65-2.50 at a Quad Meet at CBA this past Saturday.

On Monday, Harris had an impressive series (Foul, 63-9.50, 65-6, Foul, 61-10.25, Foul). The 65-6 tied Harris with Jordan West of Rahway, who threw 65-6 in 2017, for No. 8 in NJ indoor history.

The only throwers in NJ high school history to throw further than Harris indoors are Nick Vena of Morristown (71-9.50 in 2011), Braheme Days Jr. of Bridgeton (70-8 in 2013), Joshua Huisman of St. Rose (67-7 in 2024), Kevin DiGiorgio of Bayonne (67-3 in 1998), James Gilligan of Toms River East (67-1.75 in 1984) and Glenn DiGiorgio of Bayonne (66-6 in 2002), and Steve Adams of St. Joseph in Montvale (65-10 in 1970).

On the national high school level, Harris is No. 2 this season behind the 66-6.25 that Alex Jackson of Peabody Veterans Memorial High in Massachusetts threw on Dec. 14 and is tied with West for No. 48 all-time in U.S. indoor history.

Can Harris become just the third 70 footer in NJ indoor history and possibly make a run at Vena's state record!? Stay tuned!!
