Hopewell Valley arrived and conquered at the TCNJ High School XC Invite this past Saturday!

Claire Dumont Leads Strong Hopewell Valley Girls Attack

Senior Claire Dumont won the girls' varsity race with a time of 18:48 leading the field by well over 30 seconds. Dumont also led the NJ No. 16 ranked Hopewell Valley girls to a big victory scoring 32 points to second place West Milford's 59. 

Hopewell Valley averaged 20:35 and split 2:39 amongst their top five which along with Dumont included: sophomore Anna Wilson running sixth at 20:24, junior Maddie LaChance eighth 21:04, sophomore Sophia Pellegrino 10th 21:19, and Bryce Hanley 11th 21:27.

Displacers for Hopewell Valley included Maggie Maclean and Elsie Rey-de-Castro in 12th and 13th.

Also finishing top five individually in the girls' varsity were Ciara Clinton of West Milford at 19:22, Teagan Walker of Ewing third at 19:25, Amanda Harvey of West Milford fourth 19:33, and Izzy Meth of Lawrence 20:01. 

Hopewell Valley and Haddon Heights Battle In Close Boys Team Race

Reggie Hernandez of Haddon Heights earned the individual win running 16:27 on Saturday bringing in the one card for his team. Hopewell Valley's tight top-five split brought home the team victory from there, outscoring Haddon Heights 32 to 44. 

Hopewell Valley started their scoring in the second position thanks to sophomore Silas Allevik with a time of 16:37. He then saw teammates Finnegan Curley run fourth at 16:52, Ethan Darst eighth at 17:26, Colin Vickery 11th at 17:41, and Mason O'Connor 13th at 17:47 to close up their top five scoring. 

Displacers Kaj Armendinger and James Damron were 19th and 36th. 

Also finishing top five individually behind Hernandez and Allevik was Tyler Hurst of Hamilton East Steinert in third at 16:45, the aforementioned Curley of Hopewell Valley in fourth, and Owen James of Haddon Heights fifth at 17:09.
