Morgan Pearson did it again!!!
For the second time in his career, Pearson, a graduate of the Delbarton School in Morristown, N.J., has earned an Olympic silver medal in the mixed triathlon relay.
The 30 year-old Pearson, 31st in the men's triathlon last week, ran a very strong third leg for Team USA, covering the 300-meter swim, 6.8 kilometer (4.2 miles) draft legal bike ride, and 2-kilometer (1.2 miles) run in 20:24 .
Taylor Knibb outleaned Great Britain's Beth Potter, the bronze medalist in the 2024 Olympic triathlon and a 2016 Olympian in the 10K, to give Team USA the silver medal in a photo finish as both teams were clocked in 1:25.40. Laura Lindemann brought Germany across the line first in 1:25.39 in a wild 3-way finish.
Pearson, who won the the 3,200-meter run at the NJ Meet of Champions as a senior at Delbarton in 2011, teamed up with Seth Rider, Taylor Spivey and Knibb. Pearson and Knibb were also on Team USA's silver medal team at the Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.
After graduating from Delbarton, Pearson went on to run cross-country and track at Duke before transferring to the University of Colorado, where he was a seven-time All-American.
He got his start in elite triathlon through USA Triathlon's Collegiate Recruitment Program, which identifies top NCAA swimmers and runners who have the potential to excel as triathletes. After winning the overall title at the USA Triathlon Age Group Sprint National Championships in 2017, he debuted as an elite triathlete in 2018.
Pearson became the first American male to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games thanks to an outstanding bronze medal performance at the 2021 World Triathlon Championships in Yokohama, Japan.
Then in 2022, Pearson made history by becoming the first American man to reach the podium in 31 years at the Triathlon World Championships when he won a silver medal in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The last U.S. men's triathlete to earn a World Championship medal was Mike Pigg, who finished third in 1991 in Gold Coast, Australia.
