Union Catholic Improves 4x800m National Record to 8:34.20

Philadelphia, PA - Just seven weeks after their national record performance during the Penn Relays Championship of America at this very stadium the Union Catholic 4x800 meter squad made history once again. This time clocking 8:34.20 to lower their record while winning the New Balance Nationals Outdoor title.

The squad once again featured sophomore Jimmiea King 2:09.22, senior Peyton Hollis 2:09.01, freshman Sophia Thompson 2:10.46, and freshman Paige Sheppard 2:05.53.

This was a stacked field as well with the top six all under 9 minutes including Cuthbertson (NC) second at 8:45.58 and Padua Academy (DE) third at 8:47.68.

The star freshmen Thompson and Sheppard were both returning from a second place 4xMile finish the night prior. Sheppard split a 4:54.31 in that race, the team finishing with 20:18.56.

This season was one for the history books, an 8:53.48 during the Arcadia Invitational in early April, an 8:41.20 during Penn Relays to win the Championship of America, and their most recent national record performance of 8:34.20 to win New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
