NJ Rocks The Millrose Games Trials

New Jersey athletes and relay squads, led by Ajani Dwyer's sizzling state record, unloaded a flurry of NJ No. 1 performances and a three US No. 1 times at the Millrose Games Trials on Wednesday night at the New York Armory.

The biggest bomb was dropped by Dwyer, a senior at Washington, who simply blew apart the state record in the boys 55-meter dash with his US No. 1 time of 6:28!!! Read all about Dwyer historic race here.

NJ flexed its sprint relay power by winning two 4x400's with US No. 1 performances, and the boys 4x200.


In the girls 4x400, it was all Jersey as Union Catholic led a 1-2-3 finish for the Garden State, which produced the three fastest times in the country so far this season.   UC won with a US No. 1 time of 3:53.07. Timber Creek was second in 3:53.66, and Winslow was third in 3:56.86. 

Toms River North also burned a US No. 1 time by winning the boys 4x400 in 3:20.14. 

The other NJ No. 1 times were run by the Livingston boys in the 4x200, first with a US No. 3 1:28.85, the Colts Neck boys 4x800, first with a US No. 5 8:04.42,  and Ryan Jennings of Timber Creek, second in the girls 55m dash in a US No. 9 time of 7.02.

In the mile, Luke Schagelin of Morris Knolls (4:13.92) and Emma Zawatski of Freehold Township (4:52.54) each finished third as they vaulted to the top of state leaderboard. Schagelin's 4:13.92 is US No. 5 and Zawatski's moved up to US No. 7.
