The 2023 New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational is still on for Saturday at Holmdel Park, Meet Director Brian Decker announced on Friday at 5 p.m.
"The Park rangers said the meet is on. The course so far has held up alright. The first 350 meters is very soft and same with coming out of the woods," Decker stated to NJ MileSplit on Friday evening.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy had declared a State of Emergency for Friday evening due to severe weather causing hazardous conditions such as heavy rain and flash flooding in various parts of the state.
The Shore Coaches Invitational is the major mid-season checkpoint for NJXC, often marking the flip between early season invites and October local championships. For a majority of New Jersey teams is the only chance to gain some racing experience on the historic Holmdel course ahead of the NJSIAA State Championships.
232 teams registered online for the meet and the schedule features 26 races including 13 varsity races, eight junior varsity races, and five freshmen races.
NJ MileSplit will be on site for photos, videos, interviews, results, and more.
