New York, NY - Opening day for Nike Indoor Nationals, and the Armory Track is ready to roll off some great performances.

Boys 400m Prelims: The field is now set for tomorrow's finals and leading Nike Indoor Nationals there is Florida's Aidan Dixon, a star senior at Port Orange Atlantic HS, who led heat 2 of prelims clocking 47.66. Dixon currently ranks US No. 1 with his 46.98 from early February during Florida Indoor Championships. 

Qualifying for Finals: Aidan Dixon (FL) 47.66, Tavon Underwood (CO) 48.04, Damarien Jacobs (TX) 48.29, Vincent Bond Jr. (VA) 48.32, Hudson Allain (TN) 48.34, Josiah Wrice (NC) 48.37, Christian Parker (NC) 48.43, and Wesley Noble Jr. (NY) 48.44. 

Girls 400m Prelims: Akala Garrett of North Carolina leads the Championship 400m into tomorrow's finals with a season best time of 55.32. The Albemarle senior, running under PD NC Elite TC, earned that performance out of heat five of eight and as of this morning's rankings breaks into the US top 15 for the event, her previous 2023 best a 55.44 from January.

Qualifying for Finals: Akala Garrett (NC) 55.32, Kaddel Howard (PA) 55.43, Tyler Lowe (GA) 55.72, Kyla Lewis (TX) 55.85, Anissa Moore (NY) 55.90, Janiah Pulliam (NC) 55.91, Skyler Franklin (NC) 56.02, Kate Henselmeier (IN) 56.27. 

Boys 2 Mile Run: Hunter Jones (MI) running under Thompsonville won the 2 mile with a large lead at 8:51.40! Jones won the 5K Championship at Nike Indoor Nationals last winter and was already US No. 2 on the combined 3200m/2 mile list nationally having run an 8:45.46 3200m time in early February. Noah Jenkins (UT) of Herriman TC finished second at 9:00.04 and Knox Young (SC) of Greenville placed third at 9:07.62. A nice comeback for Young who took a spill early on in the race. Matt Thomas (ID) fourth 9:07.70, Shane Murphy (NY) fifth 9:08.32, and Solomon Kwartowitz (MI) sixth out of the first heat with a 9:09.10.

Boys 4x200m Relay Prelims: The preliminaries were led by Bxllout TC (VA) clocked at 1:27.90, made up of athletes from Salem (Roanoke) HS including Jonathan Vernon, Josiah Persinger, DaRon Wilson, and Peyton Lewis.

Moving onto the two heat final: Bxllout TC (VA) 1:27.90, Calvert Hall TC (MD) 1:29.50, Track 757 (VA) 1:29.81, Gaels TC (NY) 1:30.17, Athletic Xpress Greyhounds (VA) 1:30.85, Firebird TC (NY) 1:30.97, Premier TC (MD) 1:31.21, and Livingston TC (NJ) 1:31.30. 

Girls 4x200m Relay Prelims: The preliminaries were led by Hoover TC (AL) with a time of 1:40.67. The Hover squad was represented by Taylor CanadaJebreiya ChapmanDaisy Luna, and Gabrielle Washington.

Moving onto the two heat final: Hoover TC (AL) 1:40.67, Southern California Elite (CA) 1:40.74, MVP League TC (VA) 1:41.29, Track 757 (VA) 1:41.32, C.R.T. TC (VA) 1:41.99, Golden Nights TC (PA) 1:42.70, Border City AC (ON) 1:42.89, Garner TC (NC) 1:43.46.  


Girls 2 Mile Run: Brooke Wilson (CO) brought home the 2 mile title running a time of 10:15.95 and defeating the field by almost five seconds. As of this morning's rankings this would be the US No. 2 time in the event and No. 4 on the combined 3200m/2 mile list.

We don't see many indoor performances from the Valor Christian HS senior and Wake Forest University commit but this run will certainty leave it's mark on the indoor season.

Also on the podium: Sophia Rodriguez (PA) was second at 10:20.68, Addison Ritzenhein (CO) third 10:21.03, Eleanor Voykin (ON) fourth 10:21.16, Lillie Bogdan (NY) 10:25.52, Grace Tyson (MO) sixth out of the first heat 10:30.85.

Boys Sprint Medley Relay: The Huntington TC (NY) boys brought home the SMR title with a US No. 1 time of 3:33.08. The team was made up of Huntington HS athletes: Johan Fajardo, David Dje BIGuniel Elysee, and Matt Armstrong.

Also on the podium was Long Island Elite TC (NY) 3:33.13, Revolution TC (NY) 3:33.74, Trinity TC (NY) 3:38.91, Princeton Cranbury TC (NJ) 3:40.77, and Long Island Alliance TC (NY) 3:41.45. 

Girls Sprint Medley Relay: The Hoover TC (AL) girls dominated the Championship SMR with a 4:06.08 US No. 2. Relay members included Taylor Canada. Jebreiya Chapman, Gabrielle Washington, and Mckenzie Blackledge.

Also on the podium was Overlea Flying Falcons (MD) 4:10.20, Scotch Plains-Fanwood TC (NJ) 3:12.33, Suffern TC (NY) 3:13.76, Sea Vikings TC (NY) 4:14.13, and Warwick TC (NY) 4:14.29. 

Boys Distance Medley Relay: The boys DMR was won in exciting fashion by EA1785 TC (PA) aka Episcopal Academy with a time of 10:08.93 edging out Monroe Woodbury (NY) since second at 10:09.06. Those two teams now US No. 3 and No. 4 this season as of this morning's rankings.

Episcopal Academy's squad saw Aidan McHughAbaas HunterDakin Ebmeyer, and Michael Woolery take the track.

Along with EA1785 TC and Monroe Woodbury TC these teams made the podium: Rahway TC (NJ) 10:12.57, Island Express TC (NY) 10:13.38, Flyers TC (NY) 10:15.64, and McCallie Ridge Runners (TN)

Girls Distance Medley Relay: Real Training TC (CO) brings it home by over three seconds! Running 11:41.46 to move up to US No 2 this season. The team, with athletes from Niwot HS, made up of Madison Shults, Julia Rudolph, Olivia Alessandrini, and Anna Prok

Also on the podium was Kinetic TC (NY) 11:44.67, Hunter College TC (NY) 12:16.43, Roberts TC (PA) 12:19.17, Stumptown TC (OR) 12:21.82, Hunterdon Lions TC (NJ) 12:22.40. 

Mixed 4x400m Relay: Union TC (NJ) brought home the mixed 4x400m title with a time of 3:35.30! The team made up of Union HS athletes saw Gabriel Rodriguez, Mikarla Portuondo, Oko Lokko, and Sierra Latonnel all hit the track.

Also on the podium: MPV League TC (VA) 3:40.66, Idaho Dash TC (ID) 3:52.61, Trinity TC (NY) 3:53.29, Batavia TC (NY) 3:54.96, and SHaND TC (CT) 4:08.22.

Boys Weight Throw: Max Herman (GA) of Throw 1 Deep TC won the weight throw championship with a mark of 78-11.75 (24.07m), leading the field by nearly a foot and a half.

Herman is a senior at Marietta HS and a University of Nebraska commit, he already leads the US this indoor season with a mark of 80-5.75 from January 6th. 

Also on the podium: Christian Toro (RI) second at 77-06, Matthew Auble (NY) third at 72-10, Parker Kim (NY) fourth with 71-10.25, Phillips Moore (GA) 70-10, and Ryan Johnson (OH) 70-01. 

Girls High Jump: Kya Crooke (IN) of Soca Speed cleared the 5-08.75 bar (1.75m) to win the National title. The sophomore out of Heritage Christian HS already ranks tied for US No. 4 this season at 5-09.

Also on the podium: Meagan Humphries (CA) 5-07, Heidi Hudson (MS) 5-07, Alyssa Banales (TX) 5-07, Milena Chevallier (MI) 5-07, Samantha Strydesky (NJ) 5-07. All of those 5-07 heights also come out to 1.75m. 

Girls Weight Throw: Angela Schykerynec (CA) of Golden State Throwers hit a mark of 57-10.25 (17.63m) to win but almost a full foot ahead of the rest of the field! The senior goes to Orland and is a University of California commit! The current US leader with her 61-08.5 from the Simplot Games in February.

Also on the podium: Skylar Soli (GA) 56-10.75, Adrianna Coleman (WA) 56-10.25, Maya Steines (GA) 53-08.25, Faith Moore (MI) 51-08.25, and Prizila Negrete (NY) 49-01.
