NJSIAA Extends Seeding Deadline For Showcase Events

Due to the postponement of Eastern States Championships the NJISAA has extended the seeding deadline for NJSIAA Meet of Champions Showcase events from Noon on March 1st to midnight.

This is being done to accommodate the large amount of New Jersey entries in the Easterns meet which would have made the deadline before the postponement. The NJSIAA Meet of Champions is set to compete Sunday, March 5th.

This also means that Group Championship event winners will be allowed to improve their seed with a verified performance through Midnight March 1st as well. Improving a winning athlete's seed with an overall season performance is done by contacting John Schwarz (j.schwarz22@verizon.net) with the required information.

NJ MileSplit received word from NJSIAA Track and Field Tournament Directors John Schwarz and John Tonero on the adjustments Monday afternoon.

Official NJSIAA Statement

"Due to the impending storm that is postponing the Eastern States Championships from Tuesday, February, 28th, to Wednesday, March 1st, we are extending the deadline for the acceptance for the Long Jump, Triple Jump, 4 x 800m relay & 200 meter Showcase events from,12:00 Noon on Wednesday, March 1, to Midnight on Wednesday, March 1st.

The final list of who is invited will appear on MileSplit by 10:00am on Thursday. In addition, we will allow State Group winners to file for advancement in seeding, based on a verified, previous performance from Noon, February 28, 2023 to Midnight, March 1st, as well."

As the New Jersey State Editor I would like to add that if the results from Eastern States are running late and are still being processed by the closing time of midnight I will still be able to update the seeds from the meet after closing and you do not need to removed and re-add your entries to refresh the seed, this will be done through Meet Manager once the stats are in the database.

It should also be noted the NJSIAA has confirmed with us that there will be no performances outside the top 24 times and marks by NJSIAA schools this season accepted for the Showcase events. Meaning if someone in the top 24 does not declare to run the Showcase then others will not move up into their spot.
