Snyder Wins, St. Peter's Extends Jersey City Champs Streak

St. Peter's Prep boys won the Jersey City Championship for the 12th year in a row and the Snyder and McNair Academic girls went to extra runners before Snyder claimed the team title!

A tight 48 second scoring split helped St. Peter's Prep fend off a strong early effort from McNair Academic.

McNair Academic boys went 1-2 in the race with senior Noah Page earning the individual victory at 16:33, his junior teammate Raymond Guerrero in second at 16:40. Guerrero was the defending champion coming off his sophomore year win in 2021 at 17:12.

McNair went 1-2-7-13-14 for a score of 37 but St. Peter's prep held a tight pack and saw their entire scoring five finish top ten, 3-4-6-8-10 for 31 points.

St. Peter's Prep was led by Tommy O'Brien in third, 16:52, followed by Ivan Rocks, fourth 17:10, Aidan Prucher, sixth 17:18, Abraham Went, eighth 17:19, and Lucas Hernandez, 10th at 17:41.

On the girls side Dickinson junior Sara Khiri brought home the individual victory by over a minute with her 19:53.

From there it was an absolute battle in the team scoring between Snyder and McNair Academic, McNair led by sophomore Grace Campbell in second at 21:57 and Snyder by junior Shyiona Allen in third at 22:16. 

After the dust settled both Snyder and McNair Academic scored 34 points through their top five pushing the decision to extra runners. The championship decision crossed the line with sophomore Lillian Heralall of Snyder in 16th at 25:14.

 Also in Snyder's top five behind Allen were Chairely Bido, fourth 22:17, Shery Mikhael, seventh 23:29, Nyla Sanchez, 12th 24:27, and Winifer Castro, 13th at 24:43. Their seventh runner was Kya McDonald in 19th at 25:278. 

For Snyder this was their second straight team title after snapping a six year championship streak held by St. Dominic Academy in 2021.
