Greg Foster of Lawrenceville and Brian O'Sullivan of Hillsborough continued their torrid seasons in the field, and Shane Brosnan and Camryn Wennersten ran very fast times in the mile at the 114th Millrose Games on Saturday at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York.
The University of Princeton-bound Foster, the No. 1 ranked long jumper in the country with a 24-8, won his signature event by leaping 23-5.50 on his final attempt.
O'Sullivan, a junior at Hillsborough, improved his PR and NJ No. 1 mark to 15-11 when he finished fourth in the boys pole vault.
On the track, Union Catholic's Brosnan, who is headed to Harvard, threw down one of the fastest times in state history when he finished third in the boys mile in 4:09.83, No. 6 in state history. Brosnan closed with a 2:01.87 final half mile and a 59.15 last quarter!! Junior Collin Boler of Delbarton was fourth in 4:12.39, Myles Plummer of Union Catholic ran 4:13.36 to finish sxith, and Jacob Heredia of Clifton placed ninth in 4:15.42. The race was won by Gavin Sherry of Conrad in Connecticut, who ran a meet record 4:06.58.
In the girls mile, Wennersten of the Garden State Track Club was NJ's top finisher, placing sixth in a NJ No.1 4:51.01. Lilly Shapiro of Colts Neck finished seventh in a NJ No. 2 4:51.04, Christina Allen of River Dell was 12th in 4:54.50, and Cate DeSousa of Red Bank Catholic placed 15th in 4:58.86.
