The NJ XC Express is making a stop in Elizabeth today for the Union County Championships.
Ready or not- the 83rd annual meet is ready to rock here at good ole Warinanco Park.
Lots of great memories on these fabled grounds!
True or false-this is my 29th consecutive year covering this meet?
False-It's No. 30!! I started covering this when I was 10 years old. LOL!!!!
Anyways- back to what you came here for.
The girls freshman race is up first at 2:30. JV boys at 3. Varsity girls at 3:30 and varsity boys at 4
I'm parked here at the finish line with the almost world famous Styler Timing Crew.
This meet should be lit!!!!
Lots of ranked teams will be clashing in the varsity races.
In the boys race, No. 4 Westfield is chasing its 6th straight title in a loaded field that includes No. 8 Summit and No. 13 Union Catholic.
On the girls, side No. 5 Westfield is favored to win in a race that features No. 16 and defending champion UC and No. 17 Summit.
Also back to defend her title is UC junior Abby Granrath.

2:29 p.m. Just heard that Gov. Livingston and Dayton aren't competing today due to COVID-19 related reasons. 2020 can't end soon enough for all us!!!
2:31 p.m. The girls freshman race is off.
2:46 p.m. It's all Cameron Valdes of Summit, who rocks the 2.2-mile course with a very swift 15:11 to win the girls freshman race !!!!
It's all Summit in this race as the Hilltoppers rolled to a 1-2-3-5-9-10-11 finish to runaway with the freshman team title!!!!!
Summit wins, 20-74 over Westfield.
2:58 p.m. JV boys are next
3:00 p.m. JV boys are off
3:18 p.m. Summit goes 1-2 with Marek Muzyka first in 17:55 and Emre Kusmin 17:56.
Westfield edges Summit, 31-32, for the team title.
3:30 Girls varsity race is off
WOW-Clare Kelly of New Prov is out fast!!! 5:45 at the mile to take a big lead. How long can she keep up this pae???
3:48 p.m. HOLY SMOKES!!!!! Katie Hamilton of Westfield made a huge surge in the final 3/4 of a mile to reel in Kelly and then she hammered across the line first in 18:35!!!!!!!!
This was one of the fastest girls races in course history!!!!!
Clare Kelly of New Provid is 2nd in 18:43. Lindsay Hausman of Kent Place gets 3rd in 18:43!!!!!
This is the first time ever that 3 girls broke 18:45 in the same race at Warinanco!!!!!!
Westfield wins the girls team title in a big way!!!!
Westfield wins, 33-71 over UC. Summit third with 95.
Westfield averaged 19:51 and went 1-5-6-9-12!!!!!
That's 4 titles in the past five years for Westfield as the Blue Devils raised their county record to 19 titles overeall!!!
Congrats to Westfield 1st-year head coach Joe Berardi on his first county title.

Myles Plummer of UC wins in 16:24 and it looks like Union Catholic wins its first county title ever!!!!!!

RAHWAY 4TH WITH 103 - Highest finish for coach Leon Bunion's crew in more than 50 years!!!! That's right-Rahway hasn't been top 4 since the 1960s!!! And its average of 17:38 is a new school record for Warinanco!!
