Last spring the Holmdel Twilight Night of 3200s brought us an absolute treat and one of the deepest fields in state history. The event saw multiple state champions toe the line and the race itself turned out to be an exciting watch with multiple lead changes and a big kick to win by Sean Dolan.
This race really exemplified Dolan's range, the Hopewell Valley star clocked a 9:02.66 in his first 3200m race to beat out some of the State's best athletes at that two mile distance. Dolan was really known for his 800m to mile work to that point with high school PRs of 1:50.53 and 4:05.01.
The boys race wasn't the only hot time on the night, on the girls side Alexa Westley won with almost a 35 second lead on the field at 10:29.51. She went on to defend her Meet of Champions 3200m title later that season with a time of 10:15.82. You can watch Westley's race here.
