The Hebner Twins Have Transferred Colleges

Twins Isabel and Monica Hebner, who starred at NJ's Northern Highlands High School, have both transferred following their freshman year of college.

Per reports by Paul Schwartz of, Monica has transferred from Duke to UCLA, and Isabel has gone from UPenn to the University of Texas.

Monica Hebner, the NJSIAA Meet of Champions cross-country winner in 2017, had a sensational freshman year in XC and on the track for Duke.

Hebner finished 31st overall and third on her team at the NCAA Southeast XC Regional. Then this past outdoor season, she ran a personal best of 33:52.83 to become one of just three freshmen to qualify for the NCAA 10K final. She was 21st at the NCAA Championships.

Hebner was disappointed with her college experience at Duke.

"I think when you're looking at where to go to school, that you need to talk to the girls on the team about life on and off the track,'' Hebner told Schwartz. "I'm not sure I asked the right questions when I was being recruited the first time.''

Isabel Hebner also turned in an impressive freshman year at Penn.

She finished 53rd overall and fourth on her team at the Mid-Atlantic Regional to help Penn place fifth. This past outdoor season, she ran 34:32.03 to finish second in the 10K at the Raleigh Relays, No. 2 in Penn history. She also finished 27th in the 10K at the East Regional.

Why did she transfer?

"I loved the coaches and the team at Penn,'' Hebner told Schwartz. "But I found it hard to have a good balance of running, academics and social life and have some time to myself, so I decided to transfer.''
