Rewatch: Close Finishes at Burlington County Champs

Through the rest of summer we'll be posting back to some great New Jersey races from this past 2018 to 2019 scholastic year. Open to suggestions at rkellert@milesplit.com, the race must be on the MileSplit network and showcase and involve either a close finish and race long battle with New Jersey athletes.

For the most part we'd like to keep these focused on one video but Burlington County Championships back on May 11th had great battles all day long. Here are just a few of those tight races, you can watch them all on the meet page.

Austin Gabay and Ethan Wechlser's Close 1600m Battle Royale

In the video above you'll see an awesome race long battle for the Burlington County title, starts off with a pack, eventually moves to a three man race, and then has a fight to the line between Austin Gabay and Ethan Wechsler. Both these athletes ranked in the top 20 on the season from their PR runs at Holmdel Twilight a week earlier.

Jayaire King and Donovan Wright Both Run 14.49

In the 110m Hurdle finals Jayaire King of Willingboro and Donovan Wright of Burlington Twp took the entire track 110 meters to decide the winner. It went to the thousandths and King earned the win by .002 over Wright. King also won the 400m hurdles at 55.30, another race that looked like it would go to the line until Wright took a spill over the second to last hurdle, and was on the winning 4x400m squad splitting 49.23.
