Princeton's Simon Schenk Leaving to Train in Switzerland

The New Jersey boys pole vault scene took flight this past winter and spring with some of the deepest competition we've seen in years. Just one of the pieces to that puzzle was Simon Schenk of Princeton HS, who won't be back in New Jersey next season.

"Starting in August, I have the opportunity to train with the Swiss National Pole Vault Coach and will be living in a training center near Biel, Switzerland," Schenk stated to NJ MileSplit.

The 2020 senior is heading back to Switzerland representing his old track club TV Thalwil, effectively ending his field career with Princeton HS, and beginning a new exciting chapter training with the Swiss National Pole Vault Coach Herbert Czingon.

"I was able to enjoy three wonderful years here in Princeton and I would've never thought that my time here would be that successful," Schenk said, "The people here are amazing and we went so much together."

The star senior has a PR of 15-06, has won five Mercer County Championship titles, has one Sectional win, one Group 4 State title, and four Meet of Champions medals. Heading into the 2019 seasons he would have been the third best returner outdoors and second best indoors.
