Sprints Preview

There are some statement races waiting to happen in the sprints.

Dennisha Page is definitely one of those athletes ready to make a statement, the Woodrow Wilson senior has been running hot since early in the season and she's eyeing up her first Meet of Champions title. Page stated in her interview she is looking to leave her mark with a Meet of Champions triple and win the 100m, 200m, and 400m, a task that was done by Olivia Baker back in 2013.  Page leads the state in the 100m and 200m with times of 11.68 and 23.72, she is currently NJ#3 in the 400m at 52.41. Last outdoor she finished second in the 100m finals and third in the 200m at MOCs.

Running three events at this level with the quick schedule on Saturday will be hard enough but she'll have elite talent to take on in all three of those finals including defending champions from last spring.

As a freshman in 2018 Lauren Princz wowed the crowd running to the Meet of Champions victory in the 200m at 23.90, she was also third in the 100m. This year she is a favorite along with Page for both those shorter sprint events.  Princz was the only sub-12 in the 100m from Groups weekend and had the third fastest 200m performance. That 200m race could also see hurdle specialist Grace O'Shea who ripped a NJ#3 time of 24.51 to finish second behind Page at Groups, if she does run O'Shea will be coming off a battle with Claudine Smith in the 100m hurdles earlier in the meet.

In the 400m we see another defending Champ with Kaira Brown of Kent Place, she going for her fourth straight Meet of Champions title at 400m including both indoor and outdoor seasons. She was the only one under 55 seconds during Groups weekend running a 54.94 and is ranked NJ#4 on the season with a 54.91 from Union County Champs. Victoria Vanriele is also one of the very best in the state at this distance, having gone 54.33, but has the girls 800m as her main event not too long after the running of the 400m dash.
