The NJ Track and Field Express is zipping over to the Queen City today for Day 2 of the Union County Championships at historic Hub Stine Field in Plainfield.
Action is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

On Day One yesterday, the Union Catholic girls picked up wins from Zamira Ysaac in the 400 hurdles, Jerika Lufrano in the 1,600m, Hope Handlin in the PV, Sydney Tucker in the 100, and Felicia Quainoo in the TJ and rolled up 90 points to pretty much wrap up its fifth staight title. Kent Place is second with 30, and Westfield is third with 28.
Meanwhile, the Elizabeth boys, seeking its third straight title, grabbed a 54-49 lead over Westfield. Gabriel Nash led the charge for the Minutemen with a sensational sprint double. Nash won the 100m dash in a NJ#1 10.65 and placed second in the 400 in a NJ#2 48.03!!!
All eyes will be on Victoria Vanriele today. The junior at GL, who ran a NJ#2 54.33 to win the 400 on Wednesday, will be seeking to win her third straight 800 title and break her meet record of 2:09.48 that she ran last year. Vanriele ran a NJ#1 2:09.36 at the Mt. Sac. meet last month.
With UC junior Leena Morant, a multiple state champ, also in the 800-that race is going to be fast!!!!

6:24 P.M. Kent Place goes a NJ#4 and school record 3:53.52 to win the girls 4x400!!!! Union Catholic 2nd in 3:55.30. First time Kent Place has ever won the 4x400 at the county meet, and they went crazy after they won.

5:50 P.M. Kyle Lipscomb Jr. of Linden wins the discus with a NJ#2 181-2!!! It's his 2nd straight county discus title and his 2nd title of the meet. The Rutgers-bound Lipscomb won the shot on Weds.
5:40 p.m. Freshman Miranda Lorsbach of Kent Place wins the 3200 in 11:23.01

5:02 p.m. GABRIEL NASH CONTINUES TO BURN UP THE TRACK!!!!!.
The senior at Elizabeth, who won the 55 dash at the indoor Meet of Champions last year, won his 2nd gold, taking the 200 in a NJ#5 21.73!!! He won the 100 yesterday in a NJ#1 10.65 and was second in the 400 in a NJ#2 48.03!!!
NASH MISSED MOST OF LAST SPRING WITH A HAMMY, BUT HE'S BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER THIS SEASON!!!
Nash said he has something to prove this season. Look out NJ-Nash is coming for some Meet of Champs glory!!!
4:53 p.m. Sydney Tucker of UC, the 100 champ yesterday, wins the 200 in 24.65.
4:45 p.m. 200's are next
4:43 p.m. Elijah Brown, the indoor Meet of Champions winner in the 800, hits the gas with 150 to go to blast past Jacob Pantoya of Summit, the 1,600 winner yesterday. Brown wins in 1:54.97. Pantoya, who took it out fast and hit 400 (53.5) in the lead, was second in 1:58.40.
4:36 p.m. Boys 800 is next
4:34 p.m. Sr. Jaheem Hayles of Roselle wins the boys HH in a NJ#2 14.01!!! He also won the 400 IH This is his first year hurdling!!!!! Hayles is by far one of the biggest surprises in the state this season!!! This guy is killing it!!!
4:28 p.m. Felicia Quainoo wins the girls HH in 14.64.
4:24 p.m. Vanriele said after her race that she plans to run the 800 at the Brooks Meet and at the USATF U-20 Championships!!!
4:23 P.M. VANRIELE - MEET RECORD AND NJ#1 2:06.68!!!! 3 STRAIGHT TITLES FOR VANRIELE! MORANT RUNS A NJ #2 AND PR OF 2:09.00!!! I told you it would be fast!!! That's US#3 for Vanriele and US #13 for Morant.

4:14 p.m. Jaheem Hayles of Roselle, the 400 IH winner, ran the top time in the HH trials of 14.28.
4:05 p.m. Boys HH trials are up
4:03 p.m. UC's Felicia Quainoo runs the top time of the HH girls trials with a 14.96. No one else went under 15. Quainoo won the triple jump yesterday.
3:56 p.m. Here we go!!!! Girls HH trials on the track now.
3:11 p.m. I just rolled into Hub Stine. It's a day made for track and field. High 60's with a little breeze. Should be lots of hot times.
