Dennisha Page, Jailya Ash, and Jah'mere Beasley put on a sizzling sprint show in the Large School Division at Saturday's Camden County Championships ay Haddon Township.
In clash between the state's top two sprinters, Page and Ash waged a pair of red hot showdowns in the girls 100m and 200m dashes. Ash also ran one of the state's fastest 100h times this season.
Ash, a sophomore at Eastern who won the 55m dash at the indoor Meet of Champions, became the first girl to break 12.00 in the state this season when she won the 100 in a NJ#1 11.99. Page, second in 12.07, has run an NJ#2 12.02 this season.
Page, a senior a Woodrow Wilson, avenged the 100 loss in the 200 when she finished first in 24.42 and Ash was second in 24.80. Page came into the race with a PR and NJ#1 24.17 and Ash is NJ#2 at 24.70.
Page also ran a NJ#3 55.60 to win the 400 while Ash dropped a big PR and NJ#3 14.19 in the 100 hurdles.
So now Ash and Page are each ranked in the top three in the state in three different races!!! How awesome is that???
In the boys sprints, Beasley, a senior at Sterling, threw down a big PR of 21.50 to win the 200 and take over the state lead. Beasley's previous PR of 21.69 came when he won the Group 2 state title last spring. He was fourth in the 200 at the Meet of Champions last spring.
Beasley, headed to East Stroudsburg University to play football and run track, also won the 100 in 10.98, just off his PR of 10.91 that he ran the M of C last June.
