Egg Harbor Twp Sweeps Atlantic County Champs

The Egg Harbor Twp squads dominated the Atlantic County meet on Thursday in Buena, NJ sweeping the boys and girls team championships. For the boys this is five straight years, and for the girls their first since 2015 when the school last swept titles. 

The boys team saw wins in four events thanks to three senior athletes: Mubeen Momodu won the high jump with 5-10 and triple jump at 44-02.75, Gobi Thurairajah took home the 1600m at 4:26.93 and was second in the 3200m run with 9:52.44. in the pole vault Joshua Cohen cleared the 14-0 bar for gold as well. 

The girls squad had a nearly 100 point lead on second place Mainland Regional. That came off wins in EIGHT of the eighteen events. They swept the relays running 48.42 in the 4x100m, 4:04.23 in the 4x400m, and 10:15.79 in the 4x800m. Sophomore sensation Lauren Princz took home gold in the 100m, 12.50, and 200m, 25.33. Isabella Leak won the 1600m running 5:27.63 and Gabrielle Germann leapt to 16-08.75 in the long jump. 

Egg Harbor Twp didn't just amass their huge point totals with wins though, their relentless top finishers scored throughout the meet and locked in the sweep. See the full team summary for the girls and boys here.  


Below are all the individual champions and their events.

Elite hurdler Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine Prep took home the 110m hurdles with a 14.16, already leads the state with a NWI 13.68 from just last week! Rhea was also on the winning 4x100m squad who set a new school record for St. Augustine Prep at 43.33. 

On the girls side of the hurdles Claudine Smith of Atlantic City HS posted a winning 14.49, she is also already leading the state with a wind legal 14.04. She had two individual golds at this meet with a win in the triple jump at 38-06, another event she is already leading the state in.  

Javelin state record holder Brielle Smith of Oakcrest threw 146-01 to win for the third straight year, she already improved her state record this season with a 168-06 at Woodbury Relays. She owns the top three throws in the state this spring. 

A double win night for Holy Spirit's Angela Bannan who led the 1600m at 5:27 and 3200m 11:51. See more below.
