On Tuesday, he crashed through it with one of the greatest performances by a freshman in state history.
Langon, who had run 4:21.71, 4:21.11, and 4:21.35 for 1,600m this season, dropped a huge PR of 4:17.57 to place third in the 1,600 at the Skyland Conf. Championships at Hillsborough. Langon, the New Balance Indoor National freshman champ in the mile last month, was in a red hot race that saw Ryan Lindrud of Ridge win in a NJ#1, meet record, and school record 4:12.95, and John McGovern of Somerville take second in a NJ#2 4:15.12.
Langon's 4:17.57 is the fastest time by a New Jersey freshman since Jeremy Zagorski of Parsippany Hills ran 4:16.37 to place third at the 2001 Meet of Champions, and Langon is now US#2 among all freshmen in the country.
