Colin Kane of Delsea cranked out the fastest time of the meet, Indian Hills received victories from its girls team and from Bobby Oehrlein, and the Lawrenceville boys were victorious to highlight a big day for New Jersey at Saturday's Briarwood Invitational at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia.
In the boys competition, Kane and Oehrlein, both seniors, captured the individual titles with the two fastest times of the day. Kane won Championship Division in 16:37, and Oehrlein crossed the line first in 16:49 to win the Challenge Division.
Lawrenceville, led by Robert Enck (third in 17:25) averaged 18:21 and went 3-10-12-17-30 to defeat runner-up Hasbrouck Heights, 62-77.
On the girls side, Indian Hills averaged 20:39 and went 2-4-9-14-32 to win the team title in the Championship Division, 61-73 over West Chester East. Junior Corinne Barney led the way for Indian Hills with a runner-up finish in 19:32, the third fastest time of the meet.
Sophomore Sophie Steidle of Collingswood had a very impressive third-place finish in the Challenge Division race, crossing the line in 20:01, the fifth fastest time of the day.
