Last year, with the now graduated John Spinelli winning the Non-Public B individual title, Mater Dei Prep saw it's first individual champion since 1996. That also led Mater Dei to a team victory for the Group, only two athletes return from that championship squad. Their top returner is senior Patrick Osborn who also leads the Holmdel Park Non-Public B list with a time of 17:20. Could he make it two champions in a row for Mater Dei Prep? Kevin Mulligan, TJ Harkins, and others will have something to say about it before this is all said and done.

Team wise Newark Academy is in great form entering the season based on returners. They finished third in the Non-Public B last year and lead returning teams by 70 points in the team score. Their average of 18:06 and 44 second split is led by juniors Jackson Powers and Warren Sunada-Wong both in the 17:40s.
