Cory Poole became only the third man in meet history to win both hurdles, Alyssa Wilson captured the hammer throw, and Jordan West and Rey Rivera had runner-up finishes as all four NJ high school alums qualified for the World Junior Championships at Saturday's USATF Junior National Championships at the Hayes Track at the Haugh Complex at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
The top two finishers in each event who meet the qualifying standards qualify for the World Junior Championships, which will be held in Tampere, Finland from July 10-15. Poole, Wilson, West and Rivera have met the standard in all their events.
Florida's Poole, the former star at East Orange High who won the 110 hurdles on Friday in 13.34, joined Kenneth Ferguson (2003) and Jeff Jackson (1993) as the only men to sweep the hurdles.
UCLA's Wilson, who starred at Donovan Catholic and was second in the discus on Friday, unloaded a 217-7 to win the hammer throw on Saturday. Wilson will aim to qualify for a third event when she competes in Sunday's shot put.
Tennessee's West, who graduated from Rahway High last year, placed second in the shot put with a throw of 69-5 1/4, and Rivera, who starred at Old Bridge High, finished second in the 800 in 1:50.47.
