One of the biggest weekends of the season is here as the Road to the Meet of Champions makes two finals stops-at Franklin High School and Central Regional High School for the State Group Championships today and tomorrow.
Both meets start today at 2:30 p.m.
MileSplit will have wall-to-wall coverage at both meets with tons of photos, race videos, results and much, much more.
I'm trackside at Franklin and will be providing you with live updates right here. As soon as get the info, you will be the second to know.
HIGHLIGHTS
The girls 400 hurdles will be up first-Non-Public then Group 1 and Group 4.
Remember, new policy this year to advance to M of C-top 2 places in every event and then nine combined from each site (18) for a total of 30 athletes per event.
2:15 p.m. Sydney Wade, a senior at Franklin, does a great job signing the National Anthem!!!
2:23 p.m. The meet has started!!
2:24 p.m. Girls A 400 hurdles on the track.
2:27 p.m. Aliya Rae Garozzo of Paul VI edges Zamira Ysaac of Union Catholic to win the girls A 400 hurdles, 1:01.46 to 1:01.93. PR's for both and NJ # 2 and #3 (pending what's happening at Central)!!! That's how they finished at the SJ A sectional meet.
2:36 p.m. Arianna Smith of Pennsville wins the Group 1 400 H in 1:02.76. GET UR HUGE PR ON. Smith's old PR was the 1:05.53 she ran to win the sectional title last week.
2:42 p.m. Girls G4 400 hurdles seeded heat up now.
2:45 p.m. Jewel Ash of Eastern wins the Girls G 4 400 hurldes with a PR of 1:01.71
2:47 p.m. Boys 400 hurdles is up
2:52. p.m. Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine goes a PR of 54.62 to win the A 400 H.
2:57 p.m. Adam Khriss of Secaucus wins the boys G1 400 H in 54.64, a PR by .01.
3:03 p.m. In a great battle betwen the top 2 400 hurdlers in the state,
Akeem Lindo of East Orange uses a huge burst over the final barrier to just catch
Jameson Woodell of Hunterdon Central for the win. NJ #1 52.75 for Lindo and NJ #2 52.78 for Woodell.
3:06 p.m. Girls A 1,600 is next. Two of the state's best are on the line in this one-
Nicole Vanasse of Pingry and
Jerika Lufrano of Union Catholic. They went 1-2 in the Non-Public A XC Championships with Vanasse first.
3:11 p.m. Vanasse, the indoor M of C 3,200 winner this past winter, wins a great duel by a couple steps over Lufrano in 5:01.53 to 5:02.38. Huge PR for Lufrano.
3:13 p.m. Dash trials are on the track.
3:37 p.m. In the Group 4 100 trials-
Sydney Hawkins of Phillipsburg went 11.99 and
Mario Heslop of Franklin just went 10.64 in the boys.
3:39 p.m. Girls G1 1,600 on the track now. Group 4 girls 1,600 on deck
3:45 p.m. Elizabeth O'Connell of Glen Ridge and Bella Godish of Highland Park run side-by-side the last 50 meters with O'Connell winning in 5:07.44, a PR by almost 4 seconds!! Godish 2nd in 5:07.62.
3:46 p.m. Abby Loveys of Randolph (NJ #1 4:52.02 this season) vs. Chloe Gonzalez of North Hunt coming up in the girls G4 1,600. Could go under 4:50!!!
3:52 p.m. Loveys wins in a red hot race in 4:50.53 and Gonzalez is 2nd in 4:52.29, a PR of just over 3 secnds!! Loveys went 70.7 over the final 400 to get a couple steps on Gonzalez. Loveys went 2:26.2/2:24.3
3:57 p.m. Dash finals are next
Sydney Hawkins of P-Burg takes the Group 4 100 in a
NJ #1 and PR of 11.79, dropping her own Warren County record that was 11.80.
4:05 p.m.
Tim McInerney of CBA runs 61.2 last 400 to win the boys 1,600 in 4:17.06.
4:11 p.m. Demetrius Lassister of People's Prep wins G 1 boys 100 dash in 10.75.
4:12 p.m. Nick Parisi of Seton Hall Prep wins the boys 100 dash in 10.73.
4:13 p.m. Here comes Heslop!!!!
4:14 p.m. Heslop wins the Group 4 100 in a NJ #1 10.49! Helsop had the state lead with a 10.51. He'll be back in the 400 later. Will he break 47???
4:15 p.m. Shelby Bigsby of Montclair just took down the girls Group 4 SP record with a
NJ #a1 49-0!!! Old record of 48-3 was set in 1991 by Nicole Sims of Plainfield.
4:24 p.m. Drew Maher of Shore makes it two in a row in the Group 1 1,600 with a time of 4:17.18. He went out in 2:06.5.
4:30 p.m. Ray Sellaro of North Hunterdon win the boys G 4 1,600 in a PR of 4:15.47. 8 guys under 4:20! Sellaro is first North Hunt boys state champ since Nate Sisco, who won the 800 and 1,600 in 1998.
4:40 p.m. 400's are up now
4:45 p.m.
Krishna White of Union Catholic wins the boys TJ with a 46-3.
4:46 p.m.
Zyra Thomas of Schalick, the New Balance National Indoor champ in the shot this past winter, wins the girls G1 SP with a 42-3 3/4.

Heslop, who wil run the 200 on Saturday, now leads the state in all 3 sprints-10.49/20.97/46.73!!!!
5:00 p.m. GET UR POLE VAULT ON!!! Check this out-two girls made 13-0!!!! That's not a misprint!! Two girls made 13-0!!
Haley Horvath of Notre Dame won on misses at 13-0 to break the All Groups meet record and soph.
Caroline Dannenbaum of Pingry was 2nd, also smashing the record! Horvath, a senior headed to Towson, made 13-0 on her 2nd try and Dannenbaum cleared 13-0 on her 3rd try.

5:01 p.m. Dan Mead of CBA, who is having a huge season in the circle, wins the boys A discus with a PR and NJ #5 174-10! This is the 4th straight year CBA won the state discus title.

5:30 p.m. Pope John wins the girls 4x800 over Union Catholic, 9:26.51 to 9:27.39.
