There were eight state leading performances between the boys and girls for New Jersey at the Molloy Stanner Games this past Saturday.
For one, Sydney McLaughlin ran a US#2 all-time 300 meter clocking in at 37.11, a position she had already held with a 37.49 her sophomore year, read more about her performance and how close she is to the national record here.
Also on the track were the Ridge girls who ran a NJ#1 US#4 first place time of 9:26.40 in the 4x800 meter. In the 55 meter hurdles Amaya Chadwick of Union Catholic placed first with an 8.04 NJ#1 US#4 run. Brooke Olson placed third overall in the 3,000 meter with NJ#1 time of 10:18.65. For the 4x55 meter shuttle hurdles Randolph continued to improve placing second with a 35.23 NJ#1. And in the field Dahria Lewis of Columbia high school earned second jumping to 37-11 NJ#1 in the triple jump.
Those were just the state leading girls from this meet we also had a NJ#3 second place finish from Abby Loveys of Randolph in the mile at 5:06.51. Kaira Brown of Kent Place ran 41.25 in the 300 meter NJ#3. Kishona McCray of Central was third in the 55 meter hurdle finals with an 8.34 but also ran 8.30 NJ#3 in prelims.
Now onto the boys highlights, Jordan West of Rahway threw a 64-9.25 NJ#1 US#3 in the shot put to win the meet. That is a massive personal best for him indoors previously throwing 63-8. Ryan Martins impressed and placed first in the 3200 meter with a 9:23.00 NJ#1 US#3 time.
There were two more victories for the state at this meet as well... In the mile run Ray Sellaro of North Hunterdon ran 4:21.06 for the win which is NJ#2 this season and in the 4x800 meter the Ridge boys also took the victory with an 8:08.92 NJ#4.
