This past Sunday Tim Bason of West Windsor Plainsboro South found the perfect way to end his high school career, by winning a national championship. Bason out ran the field with his time of 4:11.89, a PR in the mile. He is already ranked NJ#3 in the 1600 meter this season with a time of 4:10.30 which he posted at Group Championships.
To recap his race... Bason moved up to second to hit the midway point before making a power move to control first into the bell. From there he held off any advances the field could throw at him storming onto the final straight away with plenty of space. His splits, which were like clockwork... 1:04.579 (1:04.579), 2:09.014 (1:04.435), 3:13.375 (1:04.362), 3:56.331 (42.956), 4:11.884 (15.554).
Also in this event, Elliot Gindi of Ocean Twp who ran 4:13.26 for sixth, Brandon Tubby of Hillsborough 13th 4:16.48, and Sean Sullivan 16th 4:19.64. Gindi, who has had a great year of running, is only a junior..
