Girls shot put in New Jersey has been outstanding as of late, as covered in this article from July where we show how dominant this year's top marks were compared to the past 7 years. The incredible spring was originally topped off when we saw a state record at the Meet of Champions back in June where Nickolette Dunbar of Whippany Park threw 51-2.75. However little did we know there was more to come as the summer months approached.

Back on August 1st Donovan Catholic star Alyssa Wilson, who was previously ranked NJ#2 behind Dunbar, threw a new all-time state leading mark of 51-5. The feat was accomplished at the USATF sanctioned Garage Strength Open House meet which took place in Reading, PA. She now ranks US#3 for the 2015 season and NJ#1 all time.

Her previous best was set on July 10th throwing 49-10.5 while placing 5th at the Chicagoland Throwers Series in Naperville, IL. We were told that she not only broke the record once but hit 51-5 twice in the series! Here is a video of her breaking the state record. Wilson will only be heading into her junior year at Donovan Catholic, the future is bright with so many talented throwers ready to compete next year.
