Another New Jerser Goes Sub Four! Ford Palmer Joins the Party!

We recently enjoyed a sub-four minute mile performance by Travis Mahoney on our own Garden State soil. Now we get to watch another New Jersey up and comer Ford Palmer join the party, this time the feat was completed in North Carolina. Palmer also runs for the NJ*NY Track Club and graduated from Absegami High School in 2009 before attending Monmouth University where he really began his focused track career. Before that point he had focused his training and mental game to football.

Leading up to this attempt Palmer had played with sub-four territory a few times, hitting four minutes but not breaking it. His 1500m times also showed signs that this was going to happen at some point. His most recent 1500m came on July 26th, 2014 at the Run Track Town High Performance Meet where he ran a time of 3:41.16. That performance converts to a 3:58.79 for the mile and 3:57.42 to the 1600m. You can check out more of his career times on his MileSplit profile.

On Friday night Ford Palmer attempted the mile once again, this time toeing the line at the Sir Walter Miler meet. The race was held at Meredith College in Raleigh North Carolina. During the race two other athletes broke four minutes as well. Video of the race is embedded below, enjoy! And congratulations Ford!

Note Colts Neck's past distance running star Craig Forys placed fifth in this race running 4:02.61!
