Kurt Wayton Redux
In my first feature interview in November of 2010, Joe Lanzalotto and I spent about an hour with Kurt Wayton, the XC and Distance Coach at West Windsor-Plainsboro HS South (Princeton Jct.). It was insightful and entertaining to talk with a teacher/coach who truly seemed to "get it". Kurt gave us a lot of observations about his experiences as an athlete at the HS and college level and as a coach of a program that had experienced some sucess and was clearly on the rise.
Four years later, Joe and I thought it would be interesting to revisit with Coach Wayton and see what has changed, or hasn't changed, with him as a coach and educator. His program has evolved into one of the most successful in New Jersey, in Cross Country and on the track. Many of his athletes have gone on to the next level and experienced success. Kurt himself is now the father of two, Bryn and Kevin.
