Attention Coaches - More Registration and Roster Maintenance Info

Coaches who are now managing your rosters.

  • Please note that in no circumstance should you be placing random past graduation years onto profiles to take them off your roster. It takes away from the years of hard work that has been put into making sure the rankings are accurate and can be used for historical reference. This is a matter of the rules that comes with the responsibility of being a team admin on the site; as well as a matter of respect for the work that Pat Montferrat and I have done creating accurate rankings and profiles for every athlete in the state.
  • Athletes who are not on your track roster, who are from another season, or no longer compete should be either labeled with XC, TF, both, or neither. Please do not make them "In-Active" as it will make it appear as they had never existed, removing them from rankings and more. It messes with the database.  
  • On your actual Roster in admin you may see athletes who are not from your season or who aren't on your team at the moment. That is meant to happen, we do not delete profiles on MileSplit. They move on year to year until they graduate and then they move to alumni. Even if an athlete only competed one time they have their own profile for as long as MileSplit exists. The point of the TF and XC tags are so when you are registering your team you will only see those athletes making it less confusing. 
  • If you have someone on your roster who no longer competes and you do not know their graduation year, look at the last year they competed and make that their graduation year rather than throwing a random year on their profile.
  • Athletes need graduation years to be entered into online registration as well.
  • Another item to avoid is changing one athlete profile name to another athlete. That is definitely something we would like to avoid at all costs.
  • If you see Team Admins that you do not know and who are not coaches send me an email to remove them. That way random users are not controlling things on your team.

Entering the meets.

  • Your seed times will automatically update periodically. Don Danser and I refresh the seeds every so often. We will do this right before closing as well and I'll make an announcement for coaches to check that their seed times are their best performance.
  • Again that means that you do not have to delete and re-enter. They will automatically update.

  • Make sure you are entering the correct group meet!

Online registration closes January 14th, if you haven't claimed your team and started to clean up you roster by this point I would begin to do so. That way if you have questions we have enough time to answer them.
