On Saturday, the boys and girls cross country teams from Colts Neck (N.J.) High School will be racing, along with schools from six other states, over unique terrain: at the Six Flags Amusement Park in Jackson, N.J. With roller coasters in the back drop, the athletes will race 1.2 miles of the 5K course in the Animal Safari section of the park and “run with the animals.”
Afterwards, the teams will take off their spikes and put on their theme park faces, because the park opens up and the high school runners and their families can visit Six Flags at a reduced rate for the day. (MORE ON RUNNING TIMES)
