The Facts.

The Belmar Chase - Awesome weather, atmosphere, and racers. 1,599 of them to be exact.

Celebrity Race - Steve Fulop, the Mayor of Jersey City, won the rabbit style chase celebrity in a time of 27:29. This race involved past Olympians and he was given a head start of course but a fun idea none the less. The fastest time of that twelve athlete section was ran by Donn Cabral in 15:12, who competed in the 2012 summer Olympics and has had one awesome career in the 3000m Steeplechase. The women's fastest time was Julie Culley in 17:25, another Olympian and NJ running star.

High School Chase - Well we were out done by the New York based Saratoga Springs team; who's total top three time was 47:33 lead by  Jay Navin with a 15:31 for the boys and 56:07 lead by Sarah Morin in 18:24 for the girls. However the rest of the teams involved were of New Jersey blood. 

In second for the boys HS Chase was Brick Memorial with a combined time of 56:47, top three finishers for the team were:



Kyle Mueller - 18:22
Kevin Veltre - 18:22
Alec Donavan - 20:03

Red Bank Catholic and Manalapan brought up third and fourth, RBC lead by Thomas Rue in 18:35 and Manalapan lead by Dustin Vanella in 18:43.

 

NJ Track Star Robby Andrews showed up to say high and sign autographs.

In second for the girls HS Chase were the Red Bank Catholic girls with a combined top three time of 1:01:54, top three finishers were:



Eryn Mills - 20:26
Megan Cronk - 20:39
Christy De Filippis - 20:49

Brick Memorial and St. Dominic Academy were third and fourth in the team standings. Memorial was lead by Kaitlyn Lipuma at a time of 21:33, St. Dominic was lead by Kristina Jimenez in 23:39.

Overall - The overall best time was clocked in at 14:06, a 4:33 pace, ran by the ever quick Aschalew Neguse. Second was right there with him a 14:07 ran by Mengistu Tabor Nebsi. In third the past Old Bridge star Travis Mahoney posted a 14:44 at a solid 4:45 mile pace and was first among New Jersey residents. Christian Gonzalez a Franklin Twp grad and Rider 2011 grad took 18th overall and second in the Jersey category with a time of 14:53.

For the leading woman Trist Tufa Demisse took 13th overall at a time of 15:45, 5:05 mile pace. In 35th overall, first women NJ resident and fourth for the women overall, past NJ high school star, Nicol Traynor posted a 16:40 5k. The Ridge HS star went onto Richmond posting a fantastic collegiate career there.

Recent Grads -  Some very recent NJ grads had some solid performances today as well. Chris Marco (Toms River South)  took 16th overall with a 15:52, Greg Lowing (Ocean Twp) went 19th at 16:02. Also cracking the top 25 were Rob Marczydlo in 21st running 16:08 and Riley Leder of Colts Neck in 22nd with a 16:09.
