As we said in the lead in to the Girls rankings article, the early Spring weather has been almost perfect for the first part of the New Jersey Outdooor T&F season. The sprints and hurdles have really benefitted from this. We present the season to date Relay Rankings as the best of New Jersey will lace 'em up for the historic Penn Relays later this week  

The Penn Relays added a lot of new marks and teams to the elite ranks of NJ and the US. See the new Relay Eankings along with a tip of the cap to teams in the Top 20 Nationally. Next week we will start looking at Individual Rankings as well.

Long time NJ track nut Matt Shatkus has updated the All Time HS Outdoor Lists for New Jersey through the 2011 season. We are sure that some of Jersey's current elites will change some of these in the next few days at The Penn Relays. Enjoy!

Staring at 8:30 Saturday morning with the 4x1600m Relay events, NJRunners will be at Hillsborough HS to bring you live updates and more from the 7th Raider Relays. Keep comin back to see what's happening.  

With over 60 teams competing in 4 divisions, The Woodbury Relays is one of the biggrest and most talent laden relay meets in New Jersey. South Jersey editor Matt Ciociola looks at the teams and their chances.

This episode of The Fit Runner takes us to RDV Sportsplex in Maitland, Florida where we meet with physical therapist Laura Podschun to learn about stride mechanics, stretching and plyometrics drills.

As we close the book on the 2012 Indoor T&F season with all of the historic performances, the Indoor program at one South jersey high School came back after a too long layoff. Matt Ciociola tells the story of the return of Winter Track to that school.

Edward Cheserek, the junior from St. Benedict's Prep (Newark) made track history at the Millrose games by becoming the 1st High Schooler to go under 14:00 for the 5000 Meter Run Indoors. Prior to his memorable feat, Edward sat with NJRunners on Feb 1st. to talk about the upcoming event.

Last Thursday Charlie Kerr of The Lawrenceville School made his College Choice official, signing a National Letter of Intent with Stanford. In an terview right after the signing, Charlie talked about the recruiting process and the future.

Athletes from the Princeton HS Track and Field Program are hosting a kick-off at Princeton Running Company on Tuesday January 31st at 6:00 pm for their fund raising race, The Princeton 5K.

Tim Ball, New Jersey Meet of Champions winner and Footlocker National Finalist has closed out the XC chapter of the year with the Gatorade New Jesey Runner of the Year Award. Tthe Notre Dame bound Ball is a finalist for the National Gatorade Athlete of the year award.

The Morris County track and field community is mourning Stephen Berstler Jr., who passed away on Friday. A 22-year-old West Morris graduate, Berstler was a senior at Salisbury (Md.), University. (via Daily Record)

MOC Champ Holly Bischof of Bishop Eustace Prep continues to earn honors. She has been named the New Jersey XC Athlete of the Year by GATORADE

As was reported earlier, long time track official and head of the Trenton Chapter, George Wah, passed away earlier this month. A Memorial Service has been planned (details inside). George Wah was one of the really good guys in the sport. He ran meets professionally and treated everyone with respect. While we all have horror stories of bad/inept officiating, George Wah brought honor to the position. He will be missed.

Running Company, NJ is Collecting Running Shoes for Young Athletes In Need- Matching Donations Dollar for Dollar      

Although they didn't bring briefcases with them, don't let that fool you. The US # 1 ranked Christian Brothers Academy cross-country team went to Oregon this weekend on a business trip.

The Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) brings together the best teams in the country and pits them against each other on the most unique course available.  Portland Meadows will once again play host to the championship battle and the manufactured course that traverses the interior of a horse racing track will have all the traditional features of European style cross country racing; including plenty of mud.

Twenty-two of the nations' top teams and forty-five of the best individuals will make the trek to Portland, Oregon for Nike Cross Nationals. The teams are comprised of two winners from nine different regions and four “At-Large” berths, decided on by a team of Nike consultants.
