Villa Walsh Academy senior Mary Lynch won her first cross country state title on Saturday winning with a time of 20:13. This after placing second in 2014 running even faster at 19:54. She held off another favorite going in Camille Bertholon of St. Dominic Academy who placed second with a time of 20:37.
Mary Lynch's first place finish was just the first of seven great individual performances with all seven of their runners scoring in the top 20. This led to a 28 point victory, their second straight state championship and third overall with the other coming in 2009.
Second in the team race was Trinity Hall who scored 104 points without a single senior on the roster.
