Saint James School of Basking Ridge is hosting the New Jersey Catholic Middle School XC State Championships to be held on November 9, 2024 at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge, NJ. All New Jersey Catholic grade schools are invited to attend. Due to space and time constraints, there will be a limit of 30 teams.
Date: November 9, 2024
Location: Pleasant Valley Park (PVP), Basking Ridge, NJ. The race will start in the upper field.
Registration: Registration opens on August 1, 2024. Registration is on Milesplit.com. If you have never used Milesplit before, you will be required to register your team through Milesplit.

Eligibility: This meet is limited to Neq Jersey Catholic Sxhools.
- 6th graders can run in either race, but no athlete can run in both races.
- All participating athletes must be part of their team roster on or before October 1.
The Course: The course is a mix of grass, wood chips and asphalt. Pins are permitted but there are stretches along the course that have pavement.

Cost: The cost of the event will be $13 per athlete with a minimum of $130 per team. There will be a maximum of $320 per team. Payment must be made prior to race day. No exceptions. No refunds for no-shows. You can replace athletes, but eligibility rules still apply. Just know how many you are going to run. We are not going to make last minute adjustments to try to maximize each dollar - we are focused on having a great race. Your fees go toward scoring, medals, trophies, permits and organization of the meet. We greatly appreciate your involvement and having your fees paid well in advance helps make this a better meet. Thank you for your understanding.
Team Scoring: Teams can enter up to 7 athletes per race. There is no minimum number of athletes a team can enter but teams must have 5 or more athletes participating in any given race in order to score as a team. All athletes running will affect the team scoring, but only teams with 5 or more will score as a team.
You can list up to two alternates per race but can only run 7 (no exceptions).
Honorable Mention Team Scoring: Some schools may not be able to field a team of 5 in each of the divisions. In those instances, there will be a separate, smaller group scoring system. These teams will not be eligible for the State Championship title in the division where they have less than 5, but teams that have at least 3 athletes in a divisional race, but less than 5, can compete for a divisional honorable mention trophy. There will be one trophy available in each division for honorable mention. But the official State Champion Title will go to teams of 5 or more only.
Registration: All teams must sign up through Milesplit.
Team Awards: The Top Overall Team in each division receive a STATE CHAMPION team plaque. Runner Up will also receive plaques.
The top 1 honorable mention team in each division will receive a trophy.
Medals: The top 20 in each race will receive medals.
Timing: Bibs will be worn. Compuscore will be the timing company.
Parking: You must park in a properly designated parking spot. No parking on lawns. There are multiple parking lots at the park. The lot closest to the start will fill the soonest, if that is full, you must park in a lower lot and walk to the start. No exceptions.
Restrooms: The park has bathrooms near the middle lot but there also a few portable bathrooms.
Concessions: Concessions will be available. Cash Only.
Shirts: There will be a shirt vendor on site that can make custom shorts related to the event.
General Rules: There will be an area for team tents (Tent City) near the start of the race.
You must clean Up your location after the meet. Bring your own garbage bags and take them out of the park with you. No exceptions. Please be courteous.
Waivers: You must complete a waiver for each athlete.
Insurance: Each team must provide a Certificate of Insurance. Diocese or school COI's are acceptable.
