Meet Information

Because of the number of teams that have already entered our meet, we have had to close the entries early. If you have not entered, you can email me at: j.schwarz22@verizon.net. I will put you on a "first come, first serve list". If any teams already registered changes their mind, and they notify me that their are not coming to the meet, I will invite teams off of the "first come, first serve list". Further on December 6th, any team previously registered that has not entered athletes in the meet will be removed. If there are still teams interested in entering the meet, I will again extend invites to as many teams as I can off of the "first come, first serve list".

Teams already registered should have received an email from me with a password so they can continue to add and edit their entries.

You are invited to the Fourth Annual Essex County Track Coaches Season Opener Invitational meet on Friday, December 15th, 2023. The meet will be contested at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility.

The meet is open to all scholastic teams that are members of the National Federation of Schools included within New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut as these states share a reciprocal sanction agreement. The rules and by laws of the N.J.S.I.A.A. as well as the Nation Federation will govern this meet .

Athletes must represent their High School. No Club Teams, or Unattached athletes are permitted entry into the meet.

Entries will be limited to 45 teams. Enter sooner as opposed to later,  so your team does not get closed out of the meet.

Entry Closes Sunday, December 10th at Midnight

Entry Fee: Minimum Entry $100/ Per Gender/ Per school

Individual Entry Fee: $8.00 per athlete/per event

Relay Entry Fee: $24.00 per relay (Schools are permitted 1 entry per relay event)

Entry Limitations; Varsity level 5 contestants per event/ per school Novice 5 contestants per individual event/ per school 1600 meet relay 1 team per school/ per event at at the Varsity and Novice levels

Novice Events include: 55m, 200m, 800m, 4x400m Relay and Shot Put.

Awards - Medals will be awarded to the top eight in all Varsity and Novice events!

Novice Events will be non-scoring.

THERE WILL BE A FIRST AND SECOND PLACE TEAM PLAQUE AWARDED IN THE VARSITY DIVISION FOR BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS. Scoring will be as follows in all Varsity events 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

Depending on the number of enties the use of the two shot put circles will be determined after entries close.

If there seems to be a time constraint, because of the number of Novice entries,the number of throw may be limited and there would be no finals.
Boys and Girls Varsity Long Jump will take place simultaneously on separate runways. Top 8 to the Finals

Girls Pole Vault startingheight to be determined based on how lower the standards go and increments will be determines by meet management until - 8' then - ( 8' - 9'- 9' 6" then up 6" thereafter)
Boys Pole Vault heights ( 9' - 10' - 11' then up 6" thereafter)
High Jump Boys and Girls will jump concurrently using two pits. The High Jumps will begin at the conclusion of the running events on the infield.
Girls heights will be 4 ft./ 4 ft.3 in./4 ft.6 in.then up by 2 in.
Boys heights will be 5 ft./5ft.3 in./5ft.6 in/ 5 ft.9 in./ 6.0 ft. then up by 2 in.
Please Note:

The event official has the right to remove a contestant from the event if he/she believes that the contestant does not possess the necessary skills to perform the event safely.

BASIC MEET PROCEDURE:

Each school will be allowed to enter a maximum of FIVE competitors per individual event at the Varsity level. Each school will be allowed to enter a maximum FIVE competitors per individual event at the Novice Level. Schools are allowed one 1600m Relay team per school on both the Varsity and Novice level. To allow coaches greater flexibility in putting their relays together, you may enter up to 6 athletes per relay. You must highlight the four athletes running at the meet before the event is clerked.
You must enter your athletes names in each event and their seeds on Milesplit. This information is necessary for seeding purposes. If you do not list a seed for any of your athletes when doing your entries, those athletes will be put in unseeded lanes, sections and heats. You will not be allowed to seed or make any changes to seeds on the day of the meet!


Running Events
: You must HIGHLIGHT the athletes actually competing in each running event on the "Performance lists" that will be located in the clerking area at the meet. Highlighting must be completed before the meet begins.
Relays: You must HIGHLIGHT your four relay team members on the Performance lists before the event is clerked.The lists will be available in the clerking area.
If you fail to HIGHLIGHT your athletes, they will be scratched. The event will not be re-seeded once the Ocean Breeze computer personnell complete the seeding of any given event.It is your responsibility as the coach to HIGHLIGHT your athletes!


Field Events
: Coaches will receive field event cards in their packets. Please have your athletes turn in their cards to the event officials when they are called.

Finally, there will be no changes to your roster, entries, or to your six relay running event names, after December 10th at midnight!    PERIOD!
