Essex County Championships
Congratulations to the Columbia girls and St. Benedict's Prep boys for winning the Championship titles!
Olivia Baker of Columbia triples! A triple isn't that big of news.. UNLESS YOU WIN all three races. She took gold in the 200m with a 25.83 a NJ#3, 400m with a 57.24 (Which would be a NJ#1 but she already ran a 55.02 this season!), and finally with a win in the 800m running a NJ#5 time of 2:17.59.
We also had a NJ#2 and a NJ#4 ran by Iana Amsterdam of Newark Tech! In the 200m at 25.93 for a NJ#4, and in the 55m for a NJ#2 at 7.22!
Nice little 5:10.97 for the 1600m won by Amanda Corbosiero of Mont Saint Dominic Academy who broke her own meet record set back in 2011.
Another meet record by Lyndsi Ross-Trevor with an 11-00 vault!

This was a close one for the boys title, St. Benedict's Prep repeating their championship by only 1.67 points!! Over Columbia HS. St. Ben's was lead by their standout and NJ standout Edward Cheserek who won every event in his triple! He took gold in the 800m (1:59.31 NJ#16), the 1600m (4:29.17), and the 3200m (10:07.59). Also winning for St. Ben's, Tyler Cooper sprinting a 6.55 (NJ#7) in the 55m for the win, and Naija Omari taking gold with a 51.17 (NJ#20) in the 400m. Columbia's Josuah Nijman would throw a 52-09.25 for gold in the shot. Columbia boys would win the 4x400m in 3:29.10. Sydney Scruggs took gold leaning to a 7.69 in the 55m, and silver in the 55m dash with a 6.62.
