In 2008, the NJ Track community was stunned by the sudden news of the death of Jason Walton. Walton, who had won the Outdoor MOC 800 meter title tragically took his life that summer leaving us too, too soon.
Jason's mother Liinda and the The Hillsborough track & Field family have kept the spirit of Jason alive through an annual 5k run and the establishment of the Jason Walton Memorial Scholorship Fund, which awards 2 scholarships annually via the Jason Walton Extra Effort Award. This year, Jason's Run, formerly a group Fun Run through the neighborhoods around Hillsborough HS will be run over a certified 5k course as an organized Road race.
