I wondered what we would do for an encore after the interview with the mercurial Kurt Wayton. Who could we follow that up with that wouldn’t be lost in Kurt’s larger than life wake. Lisa Morgan, who else! NO ONE leaves Lisa Morgan behind!
Something of a savior for the once and again legendary program at her alma mater, Columbia High School, where in a few short years she has led the team to not only state but national prominence. The Columbia girls’ team won the team title at the New Balance Nationals last June and then travelled to Eugene, Oregon where they finished 2nd in the inaugural Nike Track Nationals. Unfinished business – she and her team want that crown!
Coach Morgan has very high expectations of her athletes but even higher expectations of herself. She’s strong-willed and knows she’s right and she makes it all work. She spent some time talking about the future and the past with NJRunners a few weeks back in the wood-paneled halls and conference room at Columbia High in Maplewood.
