News from Around the Shore Conference - Week 3

With many schools off during this week and the cold, rainy weather there isn’t much to report this week.  In Class A South, the Southern Regional boys team remained unbeaten at 4-0 after a tough battle with Toms River North.  Barnegat got past Brick to also remain unbeaten at 2-0 in B-South.

Monmouth County Relays:  A number of teams showed up on Saturday despite the abysmal weather conditions.  In spite of the weather, some quality marks were posted.

In the boys 400h, Dylan Spadaccini of host Matawan posted animpressive 58.92, while Brandon Gilkes of Middletown North was the only other hurdler under a minute, with his 59.49 mark. Freehold Boro took the 4x100 and 4x200, CBA had the best marks in the 4x400, 4x800, 4x1600, sprint medley, high jump (tie), long jump, discus and javelin relays.

On the girls’ side, Emily and Kelly Pereira from Freehold Township were joined by teammate Devin Vitello to sweep the 400H event in 70.32, 74.71 and 74.88 for the win to open the sparsely attended meet.   Two marks of note from the field were put up by Alexandra Doyle of Colts Neck with her 98 foot toss in the discus and Juliana Wittman, also of Colts Neck who had the top mark in the javelin at 94-6.
