Repeat winners in this weeks edition of the NJRunners.com Athletes of the Week
For the 2nd straight week Molly McNamara (Red Bank Catholic) has been selected as this weeks athlete of the week. McNamara took to the Ocean County Park 5000m course at the Shore Conference Championships. McNamara said after the race she was only shooting to break 18:00. When she was crossing the line she could clearly see that she accomplished that. What she didn't know was that she beat the CR that was held by Jill Smith (formerly of Southern Regional) with a time of 17:19. McNamara's official time will go into the books as 17:14

For the 2nd time this season, sophomore sensation Edward Cheserek (St. Benedict's prep) has been selected as the athlete of the week. This week Cheserek took on county foe Jeremy Elkaim (Livingston) who was probably a slight favorite to win the Essex Co. Championship race based on experience. However, Cheserek didn't let that happen. Cheserek burned the course record and ran the fastest 5000m EVER by a NJ high school athlete clocking 14:42. Only a handful of NJ high school athletes have EVER run a XC 5000m course in under 15:00
