Burlington County Preview
By: Tim Malloy
Girls
Megan Lacy continues to have a break out season and should win easily in what I am predicting to be a course record. Megan is currently ranked 19th in the country by the MileSplit Network and recently 18:12 at Holmdel, finishing 2nd in the Champinship Race.
Natale Ocasio sophomore from Lenape who recently ran 18:58 @ the SJ Open. Meghan Malloy the super sophomore from Cinnaminson who ran 19:05 @ the Safari classic. Amanda Restivo, a soph at Lenape & Megan Charbonneau (soph / Cherokee) should round out the top five.
Team Title
This should be a re-match of the Olympic Conference Division meet held last week @ GCC. Lenape squeaked by with a 1 point win over Cherokee. I am predicting that Cherokee reverses the result from the conference meet and steals the Open like last year when they beat Lenape 41-45.
1. Cherokee
2. Lenape
3. Moorestown
4. Seneca
5. Shawnee
Boys
Unlike the girls race this should be a battle up front with no less than 4 runners trying to win the individual title here. Moorestown’s Anthony Horton, who is undefeated in dual meets this season and has recently run a PR @ Shore Coaches of 16:24, should continue his winning ways. If Horton has an off day look for Shawnee’s dynamic duo of Connor Herr & Peter Murray to sneak past as they did @ Shore Coaches where Herr ran 16:07 & Murray ran 16:13. I think Mill Creek Park is a lot like Delsea where Horton beat both Herr & Murray @ the SJ open. Lenape senior Corey Halloway & Cherokee’s Greg Malloy should battle for places 4 & 5 with Dylan Tooher senior from Cinnaminson finishing 6th.
Team Title
Once again, unlike the girls, I am going to pick the Lenape Indians to narrowly escape with a win. Coach Brian Cranston of the famous Paul Vl Cranston’s has done a nice job in developing his younger runners and his squad seems to have a bit more depth than coaches Shaklee & Callinan have at Cherokee. I wouldn’t be surprised however if the Renegades from Shawnee rained on both Lenape & Cherokee's parade if Herr & Murray go one two.
1. Lenape
2. Cherokee
3. Shawnee
4. Moorestown
5. Cinnaminson
Speaking of rain. I spoke to Coach Dan Fourney from Cinnaminson and he says the weather forecast for Friday is a Nor’easter. Stay tuned
