Amaral Out for Balance of XC Season

Joelle Amaral's season has ended in disappointing fashion.  She won her race at Shore Coaches but ran in pain the entire way.   Joelle sought medical attention this week and learned that she has a stress fracture of the Iliac Crest which is at the very top of the pelvic girdle. The doctor has prescribed 4 weeks of rest  (no running), then if X-rays show the fracture has healed or is close, a more likely scenario, Joelle will be given the green light to cross train.

Joelle said "I am so disappointed to be losing my senior XC season, but I'm going to stay positive about the situation.  The doctor said I should be 100% for the start of indoors, so that's good news at least!  I'll be there for the my team to support them the whole way because I know they're going to do amazing things this season!."

Joelle's orthopedist said that this stress fracture is far less serious than one in the hip would be.

Joelle's Randolph team is a XC Meet of Champions contender and finished second in that race last year by 1 point.   Joelle's has PRs of 4:52.29 for 1600 meters, 10:37.75 for 3200 and 18:43 at Holmdel.
