Shore Conference Update 9/15/2010
Looking around the Shore Conference after the first day of divisional (dual meet) X-C competition, we see some standout performances early.
*Leading the way on the boy’s side with a 14:46(!) from CBA is Dan Mykityshyn. Held on the CBA campus course, every runner in the top ten in yesterday’s dual meet between CBA and Freehold Township came in under 16 minutes.
*Barnegat sophomore Matt Nelson led help his team to the win over Manchester ( 20-41) with a 16:11 at OCP
Other sub 17 minute 5ks @ OCP yesterday:
Andrew Goelz - Brick Memorial 16:38
Greg Caldwell - Jackson Memorial 16:52
Ed Stone - Monsignor Donovan 16:57
? Mandara - Barnegat 16:59
*On the girl’s side the highlight would be the performance of the once again healthy junior from Point Beach, Brianna Feerst. Although there were other low times recorded yesterday, her 20:15 recorded at Holmdel for the first dual meet of the season sounds like a warning shot to the rest of the Shore Conference.
*Also worthy of note, a few long time winning streaks came to an end yesterday around the state and one of them was right here in the Shore Conference. The Monsignor Donovan girls team had their streak of 76 straight dual meet victories stopped yesterday by C-Central (and long time B-South) rival Point Pleasant Boro at OCP. The score was 24-35
Girls under 20 minutes for the 5k yesterday:
Jenna Dubrow - Jackson Memorial 18:53 (OCP)
Pauline Dabrowski - Monsignor Donovan 19:27 (OCP)
Ashley Carle - Jackson Memorial 19:36 (OCP) Carly Martz - Point Boro 19:46 (OCP)
