 Four of the best NJ High Schoolers traveled out to Des Moines, Iowa this week to compete at the USATF Junior national Championships and 2 of them came home with the gold and spots on the National team that will compete at the IAAF World Junior Championships, which will take place 7/19 - 7/25 in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada.

 

Neptune soph Ajee Wilson, won the Jr. Women's 800m championship with a time of  2:05.75. Wilson won the MOC 800m (2:04.94) and turned in a stunning 2:00.59 anchor leg to lead her Shore AC (Neptune HS) team to the Sprint medley Relay title at the New Balance National's last week end in Greensboro.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nick Vena continued his dominance of the Shot Put, albeit this time with a slightly heavier implement. The junior from Morristown threw the 6.0kg (13.23 lbs.) ball 66'1" to secure his place on the team that will compete in Moncton. Vena, who has already secured his place as a HS all-timer adds this win to his 3rd consecutive Penn Relays and Nj MOC Shot Put titles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to the 2 champs, also competing in Des Moines were Marielle Hall (Haddonfield) and Keith Griffith (Florence). Hall finished 4th in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.82, while Griffith did not advance out of the 400m prelims. He posted a time of 48.34. Both are graduating seniors and look to continue their steller careers at the next level. Marielle is planning to attend the University of Texas and Keith will be starting LSU in the fall.
