The foursome of Molly Mills, Riley Austin, Madison Kelsey and Dylan Hosty teamed up to finish first in 20:58.00, pulling away late to defeat Niwot of Colorado. Niwot, who finished second at the Nike Cross Nationals in December, finished second in 21:08.02.
The 20:58.00 by Haddonfield is No. 11 all-time in NJ indoor history!
Haddonfield was trailing Niwot by nearly 50 meters heading into the final leg, but Hosty, a freshman, produced a sensational anchor leg, erasing the deficit with about 5 laps remaining before surging into the lead. She then broke the race open by ripping a 70.25 final 400 to secure a 10-second victory for the Dawgs.
Mills, a junior, got things started for Haddonfield with 5:15.58 carry. Austin, a senior, followed with a strong 5:10.58 leg. Kelsey, a junior, clocked a 5:22.01 before handing off to Hosty, who sealed the victory with a 5:09.83 anchor carry.
