Jevon Ledgister of St. Peter's Prep opened his season by blowing up the track with a pair of state sophomore records at the 71st Bishop Loguhlin Games on Saturday at Ocean Breeze.
Ledgister, who won the 100-meter dash at the Meet of Champions in June, blasted a 6.31 in the 55 dash and a 34.07 in the 300 to win both races and become the fastest sophomore in NJ history at both distances!!!
Ledgister, who now owns 6 state class records, is now tied for 6th in the 55m on the all-time sophomore list in U.S. history and No. 8 all-time in the U.S. sophomore list in the 300m!
The times in the 55 and 200 by Ledgister are also both US No. 4 this season, and his 6.31 is No. 9 in NJ history, and the 34.07 places Ledgister No. 11 in NJ history.
In case you're wondering, the overall NJ records in the 55m and 300m are 6.18 in the 55m by Ajani Dwyer of Washington Township in 2024, and 33.01 in the 300m by Jordaine Johnson of East Orange Campus last February.
Last year, Ledgister ran NJ freshman indoor records in the 55m (6.44), 60m (6.80), and in the 200 (21.48).
And last June at the New Balance National Championships at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Ledgister ran an NJ freshman record and meet record of 21.19 to win the 200 in the Freshmen Division. He also won the 100 in the Freshmen Division at the NB Nationals and ran a meet record of 10.57.
