The Toms River North hurdle squad made history on Thursday during the East Brunswick Sprint Series meet when they destroyed the 4x110m shuttle hurdles national record, in the rain, clocking 55.93!
The team, made up of senior Camryn Thomas, sophomore Jael Hester, senior Mordecai Ford, and senior Mamadi Diawara, has had a historic year.
This past winter, they won the New Balance Nationals Indoor title in the 4x55m shuttle hurdles at 29.31.
Just a few weeks ago, they had tied the previous New Jersey state record in the 4x110m shuttle running 56.58 to win Ocean County Relays, matching East Orange Campus' time from their own 2017 New Balance Nationals Outdoor victory. At the time, that was also U.S. No. 3 all-time.
And now, they've dropped .39 off the previous national record of 56.32 held by West Side, of South Carolina, since 2004.

This is an event New Jersey has historically seen success in, now with three squads in the top five all-time nationally.

The Toms River North boys will have one more chance to lower their time when they compete at New Balance Nationals Outdoor later this June.
Individually in the 110m hurdle event this season, Camyrn Thomas has 13.85 (NWI) / 14.15 (0.5) times on the board, Mamadi Diawara won the South Group 4 Sectional with a wind-legal 13.99 (0.5), Jael Hester has a 14.42 (NWI), and Mordecai Ford a 14.72 (NWI) season best.
