Middletown South got the job done at B-North! The NJ No. 3 ranked girls dominated, and the boys won a tight points battle with Ocean Township.
Middletown South Girls Cruise to Divisional Title
Out front for the individual title was Leah Starkey of Ocean Township, who continues to impress in her freshman season running 19:05, a solid 29 seconds ahead of the field. Brielle McClarnon of Holmdel was second running 19:34.
Now to the team title by NJ No. 3 ranked Middletown South, which featured a top ten finish by all five of their scoring runners. Freshman Amelia Pattwell started them off in third running 20:25, junior Caitlin Brown was fourth at 20:29, and junior Abby Oglevee fifth with 20:29. From there juniors Riley Murphy and Emily Gallo in eighth and ninth closed the scoring at 29 points to defeat second-place Middletown North who finished with 61.
South's displacers Morgan Michaelson and Ava Romano were 12th and 13th adding to their points lead as well.

Four Point Battle Decides Boys Championship
The Middletown South and Ocean Township boys put on an exciting finish for anyone counting points throughout the race. After a back and fourth points battle, Middletown South came out on top with 54 points to Ocean Township's 58.
Freehold Boro was also in the mix early with three finishers in the top ten, but had to settle for third at 71 points when it was said and done.
Middletown South was led by junior Matthew Leonard in fifth with a time of 18:26. His teammates Lincoln Miller, Elliot Muniz, and Brody Skelton brought in places 10th through 12th, and then Joseph Rogers finished their scoring five with a 16th place finish. Overall they averaged 19:05 and split 1:10 between them.
Ocean Township got off to a great start thanks to Finn Hyland in third at 18:15 and Ryan Taylor seventh at 18:36. They averaged 19:09 among their top five and split 1:51.
The individual title was brought home by Middletown North's Andrew Scalercio clocking 17:24 and nine seconds ahead of second place Steven Lopez Blaz of Freehold Boro at 17:33.
