RESULTS

The North Hunterdon girls, ignited by Danielle DiEsso's stunning quad, and the Pope John boys, who leveled up big-time in the field, returned to the top at the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Championships on Monday at Hunterdon Central in Flemington.

QUEEN OF THE SPRINTS

For the third straight year, DiEsso dominated the sprints as she ran away from the fields to sweep all three sprints and anchor the winning 4x400 relay to earn the Female Track MVP for the third consecutive year and spark North Hunterdon to the team title. DiEsso is the first athlete to ever earn the MVP three times at this meet!

DiEsso, a senior, won the 100 in 12.60, the 200 in 26.06, the 400 in 58.01, and she split 58.5 as the anchor on the winning 4x400 that ran 3:57.23 to help the Lions outscore runner-up and defending champion Pope John, 145-77. Last year, PJ edged North Hunterdon by 2.5 points for the championship.

DiEsso has now racked up an astonishing seven individual titles at the HWS Championships in her career. She won the 100 and 400 as a sophomore, captured the 200 and 400 as a junior last year, and her sprint sweep on Monday gives her seven titles.
